Following is a book review by Peggy Paxton that appeared in the bulletin of the St. Petersburg Advent Christian Church on September 8. It seems that this could be a valuable book for those who wonder if they are ready to be God's witness:
This week brings us to a year since we, as a Nation and as individuals, were left no choice but to deal with the unthinkable. Since this Nation was conceived its people have many times had to deal with the horror and tragedy that results when evil men set themselves on a course to bring freedom and democracy to its knees. Again, the people of this United States have united to stand against those very men. And once again we have seen ordinary people show extraordinary courage in giving of themselves for their fellow countrymen. As a result of their courage we are privileged to witness the courage and strength of those they loved and had to leave behind. One of those people is a young woman of great faith, Lisa Beamer. Her book, Lets Roll!, has hit the book shelves all around the country. I encourage you to get a copy and read it. While it is painful to get to know Todd and Lisa and then to share in the grief of Todds death on United Flight 93 it is also a book in which one finds renewed hope for tomorrow, strength for today and joy in life itself. Lisa Beamers testimony of her reliance and trust in Gods steadfast love will minister to your life: Todd was not a Hollywood hunk or a comic-book superhero. He was an ordinary guy with ordinary faith in a great God What made Todd different from many other men who are merely religious was not the fact that he was willing to die for his faith; the terrorists did that! No, Todd was willing to live for his faith. Better still, he was willing to live out his faith all the way to the end. Todd built his life on a firm foundation so that when the storm came on September 11 he didnt have to check the blueprints to see if everything he had built his life on was going to stand. He knew If you live long enough, youre bound to encounter some rough storms. No one is immune to tragedy in this life My life since September 11 includes many human sorrows and challenges, and every day I must choose how to confront them But I have found safety and security in a loving heavenly Father, who cannot be shaken, who will never leave me or forsake me, and in whom I can trust completely. For those looking for hope, I recommend grabbing the hand of your heavenly Father as tightly as possible God is a hero who will always be there when you need him.
